About Us

Habitat for Humanity International was founded in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller, a U.S. married couple who left a successful business and affluent lifestyle to live a life of Christian service. Working with farmer and biblical scholar Clarence Jordan, they developed the concept of helping the poor secure adequate shelter by enlisting volunteers to work side by side with families to build simple, affordable houses where they can raise their children. Habitat for Humanity has long been recognized for its leadership in revitalizing neighborhoods across the country, creating vibrant, and inviting places to live for current and future residents.

Our vision: a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Our mission: Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.

Our values: We believe that every one of us deserves the opportunity for a bright future.
We believe that, with a little help, we all have the potential to stand on our own.
We believe in justice, equality and radical inclusivity.
We believe that decent shelter is something we all need to grow and prosper.
We believe that safe and stable homes are the lifeblood of strong and stable communities.
We believe that each of us can do something to help a family build a better life for themselves and create a thriving community for us all.
